Micron Announces Billions More in US Chipmaking Investments

This expansion includes a second leading-edge memory fabrication plant in Boise, Idaho, and an expanded manufacturing facility in Manassas, Virginia. The company aims to produce 40% of its DRAM in the US, supported by a $275 million direct funding award under the CHIPS Act for the Manassas facility.
These investments follow a nearly $6.2 billion government subsidy for Micron under the 2022 CHIPS and Science Act. The move comes amid strong demand for memory chips, particularly high-bandwidth memory (HBM) used in AI applications. Micron has also committed $24 billion to expand wafer manufacturing in Singapore and is building a $7 billion advanced packaging plant there. On Hyperdash,
