Unitree Robotics
Unitree Robotics is China's leading legged-robotics company and one of the most closely watched names in embodied AI. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, the company designs, develops, manufactures, and sells quadruped robots (Go2, B2), humanoid robots (G1, H1, R1), and the motors, reducers, controllers, and lidar that power them. That vertical integration lets Unitree ship capable robots at a fraction of the price of Western rivals.
The company built its reputation on robot dogs used in research, inspection, and consumer applications, then applied the same supply chain to humanoids. Its G1 humanoid starts under $20,000, an aggressive price point that has made Unitree the shipment leader in a category most competitors are still prototyping. The company is profitable, with 2025 revenue of roughly $235 million, and humanoids already account for about half of its main business income.
Unitree competes with Tesla's Optimus program and Boston Dynamics, owned by Hyundai Motor Group, as AI drives new demand for embodied intelligence. While Western rivals target industrial contracts and internal deployment, Unitree sells robots at scale today, and China's push for homegrown robotics champions has made it a strategic priority.
Today, Unitree is the world's largest maker of quadruped robots with an estimated 67% of global shipments, and it shipped over 5,500 humanoids in 2025 — more than any other manufacturer. Its 4.2 billion yuan Shanghai STAR Market listing, cleared in the fastest IPO review in the board's history, is set to make it the first humanoid robotics stock on China's A-share market.
